About Me

Johnnie Sue
Starkville, Mississippi, United States
I teach nursing in the graduate department at Mississippi University for Women. I completed my PhD in nursing from the University of MIssissippi Medical Center in November 2010. My dissertation focus was developing and testing a scale to measure self-efficacy of parental ability to influence child health behavior. I write about life, my dissertation experience and whatever else I'm feeling like at the time. My primary interests include the childhood obesity problem faced throughout the world, women's issues, health policy, economics, and politics. Though I'm in a female dominated profession, I still believe it is hard for women to be recognized for brains instead of looks. I'm a feminist. I have a fiance and two cats. I have wonderful parents who taught me to be honest, work hard, and think independently. Those were the best things they could ever have done for me. By doing that they helped give me ethics and creativity.
